High-ticket service businesses usually think they have a lead problem. Often they have a response problem. Leads come in from ads or the website, the owner is on a sales call or delivering for a client, and by the time someone calls back hours later, the prospect has booked with a competitor or forgotten they asked.
When each sale is worth thousands, that gap is expensive. Here is how to close it with speed-to-lead and a dedicated SDR.
A high-ticket buyer is rarely talking to only you. They filled out two or three forms the same evening. The first business that reaches them, answers their questions and books a call sets the frame for the whole decision. Wait a few hours and you are calling someone who has already had that conversation with another company.
Set a simple standard: every new lead gets a text within one minute and a phone call within five minutes during business hours. Then measure it. Most businesses that measure it for the first time find their real average is in hours, not minutes.
If two or more of these sound familiar, the cheapest growth available is usually working the leads you already pay for. George T. collected $30k cash in 30 days of starting with us, after we recommended on a call that they get an SDR.
An SDR does not close. Their job is to reach every lead fast, qualify them, and put good prospects on the closer's calendar. Write the role down:
Most leads are not reached on the first call. A structured first week looks like this:
Keep texting and calling compliant: collect consent on the form, honour opt-outs immediately and stay inside local calling hours. An AI SMS setter can cover nights and weekends, replying in seconds and booking calls while the SDR is offline.
The call has four parts: a friendly opening, the reason for the call, four or five qualifying questions, and a booking close. Questions that work:
Then book the call on the spot: "I have Tuesday at 2 or Wednesday at 10 with [closer]. Which works better?" Never end a call with "I will send you some times." That sentence is where booked calls go to die.
When the system is in place, the calendar fills. Cameron J. is booking 5 new sales calls per day after implementing our strategy.
A common SDR comp plan pairs a modest base with a bonus for each qualified call that shows up, and a larger bonus when that call closes. Paying for shows instead of bookings stops the SDR from filling the calendar with weak calls. Record every call, review a handful with the SDR each week, and tighten the script based on what closed and what did not. Offshore SDRs can work well, especially for covering several time zones, as long as they are trained on your offer and reviewed the same way.
Every booked call needs notes in the CRM before it reaches the closer: why the lead reached out, what they tried, their budget answer and who else decides. The closer should never open a call by asking questions the SDR already asked. Send the prospect a confirmation with the closer's name and photo, and a short video or case study to watch before the call. Prospects who arrive informed show up more often and close faster.
This is where an SDR proves their value or does not. If contact rate is low, look at speed and call attempts. If booking rate is low, look at the script. If show rate is low, look at confirmations and reminders.
The payoff from working every lead can be large. Howard Sokoloff closed 27 deals at $12k per sale, more than $350k, in 60 days, and seven months later was doing $700k a month in revenue through Variance Marketing leads.
Through our Dealflow program, we generate the leads and build the system that turns them into calls: ads with AI creative, a qualifying funnel, instant text and AI SMS follow-up, CRM pipelines and reminders, plus advice on when and how to add an SDR, with a dedicated campaign manager and weekly reporting.
